Norfolk Hardware Center was completed in three different phrases. This was done so that the store could stay open and provide business as usual. TRI Construction was responsible for keeping the customers and the general public safe with numerous temporary entrance and exit set-ups through the construction phases. The project started in 2016 and was completed in the summer of 2017.
The project involved the addition of a newly-designed front entrance and foyer for the Hardware section of the store, which included two sets of doors to provide easier entry and exit for customers. An entirely new building facade was added to the pre-existing building at the Home Center portion of the store, which included selective demolition of the existing facade. TRI Construction created the new facade from the ground up, which consisted of brand new footing, framing, and finished facade material.
TRI Construction was also responsible for constructing a 3,000 square foot exterior storage area at the rear of the building. This area was designed to store all of the exterior building products, such as lumber, concrete, and garden supplies. TRI Construction installed a structural slap on grade with an open wall steel column and galvanized roof structure, to make the design complete and ready for merchandise
