TRI Construction was awarded the Majestic Theater Areaway Infill & Sidewalk Removal and Replacement project at Emerson College in 2025, delivering critical infrastructure improvements to enhance safety, accessibility, and long-term durability at this historic campus landmark. The project required extensive coordination with the City of Boston and Eversource to safely reconstruct the public sidewalk and supporting structures in front of the Majestic Theater
Scope of Work

Traffic Management & Safety: Implementation of a City of Boston–approved traffic management system to ensure safe pedestrian and vehicle circulation throughout construction.

Demolition & Utilities: Removal of the existing concrete sidewalk, demolition of the areaway, and relocation of existing utilities including electrical and fire alarm systems.

Foundation & Waterproofing: Installation of new CMU footing and block foundation infill, cleaning and patching of existing masonry walls, and application of a new waterproofing system for building foundation walls and electrical vaults.

Drainage & Backfill: Replacement of a 6″ cast iron drain line with PVC, installation of drainage mats and rigid insulation for backfill protection, and preparation for new concrete sidewalks.

Site Improvements: Furnishing and installing 90 linear feet of new vertical granite curbing, asphalt roadway restoration, and placement of new concrete sidewalks in two phases, including Allen’s Alley entrance.

Finishes & Completion: Final punchlist, site cleanup, and breakdown to return the area to full use.
